This is for groups travelling to a schedule someone else sets: spring training, a tournament or a fixture. Both Scottsdale homes work as a base, with The Sunkiss favouring king rooms and The Scottsdale Social favouring nine beds and evening games. Late winter into spring is the busiest window, so book as soon as your dates are known. One practical constraint: ballparks and venues sit across the whole metro, and tickets come from the league, club or venue. Sports trips are the least flexible kind of group travel: the dates are decided by a league, a tour or a school, and everything else has to fit around them. The practical work is booking the house as soon as the window is known, then confirming the fixture with the organiser rather than a third-party listing.

Ballparks and courses sit across the whole Phoenix metro, so check where your club or course actually plays before assuming a short drive. Tickets and tee times come from the organiser or the venue; we hold none and have no partnerships or vendor arrangements.

Both Scottsdale homes work for this because the group can regroup at the house between sessions instead of scattering: a private pool and hot tub, outdoor space for the evening, and a kitchen that removes one reservation from the plan.

Spring training planning

Cactus League spring training brings fifteen MLB teams to ten ballparks across the Phoenix metro each February and March. Ballparks are spread across the metro, so check where your team plays each day on the official schedule before you plan the week.

Groups usually pick two or three games rather than one every day, leaving room for golf, the pool and an evening in Old Town.

A shape that keeps the group together:

  • Morning: breakfast at the house, sunscreen and water for an outdoor ballpark.
  • Early afternoon: game time, with the group travelling in as few cars as practical.
  • Late afternoon: back to the house for the pool and hot tub.
  • Evening: grill at home or one booked dinner out.

Rooms for a team or a fan group

The Sunkiss sleeps up to 16 across four king rooms and a bunk room; The Scottsdale Social sleeps up to 18 across three king rooms, a two-queen room and a bunk room. For larger groups the two homes are booked as separate stays.

Weather and ballpark days

Spring training games are played outdoors in the Arizona sun. Bring hats, sunscreen and water, check the National Weather Service Phoenix forecast for the day, and check each ballpark's own bag and seating rules before you leave the house.
