The Flathead Valley stretches from Flathead Lake north through Somers, Lakeside, Kalispell and Whitefish, with Glacier Country beyond. Trailstead's two Montana homes sit in the Somers–Lakeside area, which keeps the lake close while staying within a reasonable drive of the valley's towns and airports.
Straight answers
Each answer points to the home that fits and to that home's official calendar, where availability, rates, fees, minimum stays and the final guest limit are confirmed.
Through public access. Neither Montana home has private, deeded or property-specific lake access, and no boat, dock or slip is included. Groups use the public beaches, boat ramps, marinas and parks that are open to everyone.
The Somers–Lakeside area keeps the valley's towns and the regional drives into Glacier Country within a normal day's plan. Park access, entry requirements and road openings change by season, so check the National Park Service before you go.
Fall brings quieter roads and colour in the larch, and it is the easiest season for group availability. Timing shifts year to year with the weather, so treat any published peak week as approximate.
The Tamarack, for gear-heavy groups: garage and driveway parking, hot tub, sauna, fire pit and game room. Resort operating dates are conditions-permitting and published by the resort itself.
Winter access in Glacier is limited and weather-dependent, and trail and road conditions change daily. The National Park Service winter and cross-country pages are the sources to check close to your dates.
Both suit a group under one roof. The Evergreen has six bedrooms and sleeps up to 10. The Tamarack sleeps up to 10. These are residential stays under house rules, not event venues.

Whitefish is the valley's best-known town. Here is what a group gains and gives up by basing on the lake instead.
Whitefish is the valley's busiest town: a walkable main street, the widest choice of restaurants, and the closest base to Whitefish Mountain Resort for a ski group that wants short morning drives.
That popularity is also the trade-off. Summer and holiday weeks are the valley's tightest, and a large group often ends up split across several small properties.
The lake. Both sit on the west and north sides of Flathead Lake, minutes from public beaches and boat ramps, with quieter evenings and easier parking for several vehicles.
Whitefish stays reachable — it is a normal drive north for a dinner or a ski day — and Kalispell sits between the two for groceries and the airport.
If most mornings begin on a chairlift, base north. If most mornings begin on the water, or the group's real goal is being together in one house, base on the lake.

From a Somers or Lakeside base, the practical dinner options are the lakeside spots close to the house, Bigfork across the bay, Kalispell for the widest everyday choice, and Whitefish for the busiest evening scene. Each is a normal drive rather than a walk, so pick one town per night.
Kitchens in smaller valley towns often stop serving earlier than visitors expect, and hours shift between summer and the off season. Check the venue's own page or call the same day.
Kalispell is the valley's supply hub. Do one large shop on arrival rather than several small ones — both Montana homes have the kitchen and gathering space to make cooking in the default.
Boat and paddleboard rentals, guided fishing, rafting, horseback rides and winter lift tickets all tighten up in peak weeks. Book directly with the operator and confirm what happens if weather cancels the day.
If anyone is bringing a boat or paddleboard, Montana operates watercraft inspection requirements — verify current rules with the state before you tow.
