Why go now
Fewer crowds, crisp days and fall color give the Flathead Lake area a different rhythm from summer. Pack layers and keep plans flexible: weather, foliage and seasonal opening hours vary.
Tamarack season
Western larch, known locally as tamarack, turn gold in late October and early November in western Montana, after the aspens and cottonwoods have dropped their leaves (KTVH Weather Wise).
The Tamarack home is named for this tree. Fall color depends on the season and conditions.
Parts of Glacier National Park are open year-round, while road and facility access changes seasonally and with conditions. Plan outings conditions permitting, and check nps.gov/glac for current conditions before you go.
Fall dates open as confirmed October 6, 2026. Availability can change; confirm exact dates, guest limits, fees and house rules on each home's official booking page.
